The Plus Side Of Preschool For Kids

By Bertha Wells

Going to preschool for at least one year poses numerous benefits for youngsters. It provides small children with their first school experience in an environment that is nurturing and filled with structure. These benefits include an arena that offers youngsters opportunities to socialize with other children, circumstances under which they learn to share, fundamental concepts of learning, an organized learning environment, the ability to be apart from their parents for a short period of time, and chances to work on activities and projects which allow them to be creative. These divergent benefits of attending pre-k will be discussed more below.

To begin, nursery school is often the first chance that a small child has to socialize with a big group of children who are the same age. Most pre-k classes incorporate a lot of opportunities for children to play freely into their daily schedules, as playing freely is said by many studies to have solid benefits for youngsters. Free play fine tunes kids' motor skills and allows children the chance to work in teams.

Sharing with other children is also encouraged to nursery school students each day. Youngsters, even those with siblings, may not be the best sharers at home. In the pre-kindergarten environment, however, children are widely encouraged to share their toys and other items on a day by day basis. Sharing with others is a basic skill needed in life which encourages a generosity of spirit and overall empathy.

Basic learning ideas are taught to preschool children today also. A pre-k classroom, in particular one for four year olds who are set to be in kindergarten within a year, does not only entail playing like it might have in the past. In most instances, youngsters are also learning about numbers and the alphabet.

In pre-k, kids are also introduced to a very structured day. For instance, they may play in the morning, do letters/numbers in the afternoon, arts and crafts after that, then snack time, etc. Doing the same things at the same time each day is very important for young children and gets them into a good daily routine. The structure will come in handy when the kids start kindergarten the following year.

The opportunity to not be in the presence of parents or other guardians for an extended period of time is yet another benefit associated with attending nursery school. Preschool is often the first time that kids are away from parents and in the presence of their peers, where they can play and learn together.

Working on creative projects and activities is yet another plus of attending pre-k. Kids tend to work on a plethora of arts and crafts projects in school on each given day, and such artwork then tends to adorn their homes and those of their grandparents and other loved ones.

There are many pluses that are linked to young children's going to preschool. Some are the chance to be social with peers, to share items with others, to learn basic phonics and numerical skills, to be in a structured learning environment, and the to work on various arts and crafts activities.
