Etiquette for children is a very important part of their growth. It represents a set of acceptable behaviors that is expected of them. When this training is started in early childhood, it ensures that they grow up to become responsible members of society. Such good behavior can only be acquired if it is made to be part of daily activities and inculcated into a child over time.

We all display some form of ethical conduct in our lives every day. This conduct is often used as the basis of defining us as human beings. It may thus dictate our successes or failures in several areas. It is for this reason that children need to be properly trained so that grow up as persons that can be admired and respected in society. As adults, we need to serve as role models that can be emulated by the young ones.

Volunteering at home, in school as well as other places is one way of nurturing good habits. It helps one to develop a heart that is willing to assist even without getting anything else in return. Generosity works in more or less the same way. It helps us to be selfless and to learn to help the less fortunate around us. As a growing child, it is important to learn how to respectively interact with seniors such as during conversations.

Children need to be put under the care of responsible adults and live in an environment conducive for developing respectable manners. Clear rules and regulations should be put in place as guiding principles. The child can be rewarded if noted to be following the rules to motivate him and add interest to adherence to these standards. On the other hand, disobedient children are supposed to be given appropriate punishment to instill discipline.

Courtesy is very important in any form of interaction. It should be taught to children as early as possible. A child should be told that it is good to show appreciation for anything good by saying thank you. It is also good to apologize when one has wronged another person. Excusing oneself when in a meeting or during a meal when seeking leave is polite. All these forms of behavior serve to build healthier relationships.

A child brought up in the right manner, respects authority. This also extends to respect of peers and seniors. Making fun of other people because of their physical appearance is not good and should be highly discouraged. It is important to appreciate the fact that God created every human being with a unique beauty. Making a face as a way of mocking is impolite and indecent and should never be done.

Listening is often more important than talking. A child should learn not to interrupt other people during a conversation and should be patient enough to wait for their turn. When their turn to speak comes, they should be loud but not rude. It is very important to maintain eye contact in a conversation as a way of showing interest.

Etiquette for children is central for proper growth. It ensures that children grow up as all-rounded beings who are well disciplined. Every adult needs to make the instilling of discipline in the youngsters a personal responsibility.
